Softball Recap: West Jordan Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

West Jordan put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Kearns Cougars get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. Considering the Jaguars have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Rita Tavita made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Arianna Fjeldsted was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Kaylie Taylor also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

West Jordan hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearns struck out nine times.

West Jordan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Kearns, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. West Jordan is set to challenge their familiar foe Granger at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Jaguars' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Lancers have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Kearns will square off against rival Hunter at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
