Soccer Game Preview: Kearney Catholic vs. Gering

The Kearney Catholic Stars are taking a road trip to challenge the Gering Bulldogs at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Kearney Catholic will be strutting in after a win while Gering will be coming in after a loss.

While Kearney Catholic's victory against Lakeview wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Stars' defense stepped up to hand the Vikings a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. The win continues a trend for Kearney Catholic in their matchups with Lakeview: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Gering's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scottsbluff last Thursday. Gering have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kearney Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Gering, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Everything went Kearney Catholic's way against Gering in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Kearney Catholic made off with a 5-1 win. Do the Stars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
