Baseball Recap: Holy Cross' Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Holy Cross had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Shepaug Valley Spartans 5-4. This was payback for the Crusaders, who suffered a 2-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Holy Cross, bringing their record up to 12-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Shepaug Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 21-5 record.

Looking ahead, Holy Cross will venture away from home to face off against St. Paul Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Shepaug Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
