Basketball Recap: Seagoville Skates Past Jefferson with Ease

It's playoff time, and Seagoville had no trouble coming through when it counted. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Jefferson Patriots 70-43. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while the Patriots are ranked 1243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Seagoville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Twone Long, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Long a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Travion Hall, who posted 16 points and seven boards.

Seagoville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Seagoville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points over those games. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-18.

Coming up, Seagoville will square off against Ellison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ellison will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Seagoville surely won't give up without a fight. Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
