Volleyball Recap: Maricopa Comes Up Short

Maricopa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Salpointe Catholic Lancers.

Julius Gosiaco paced Maricopa's offense, picking up three kills. Gosiaco got some help from Gensis Abon and his five assists. Finally, Raycer Martin kept Maricopa's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Maricopa's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Salpointe Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Maricopa has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Mica Mountain on the 12th. As for Salpointe Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Mountain View on the 12th.
