Basketball Recap: Northland Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Linden-McKinley, Northland was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Walnut Ridge Scots with a sharp 54-30 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Vikings' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 618th, while the Scots are ranked 165th).

Walnut Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaslyn Gore, who posted ten points. Kania Lee was another key player, putting up seven points.

With the victory, Northland broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5. As for Walnut Ridge, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2.

Coming up, Northland will be taking part in a tournament against Aiken at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Walnut Ridge will wrap up 2025 with a road trip to face off against Colerain at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
