Basketball Recap: Cozad Skates Past Hershey with Ease

Cozad extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-0. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 71-41 win over the Hershey Panthers. Fans of the Haymakers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Cozad had a senior duo take command as Olliver Davis shot 53% from the field to rack up 20 points and eight rebounds and Gage Strauss went 6-for-13 en route to 13 points and eight boards. Strauss is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Chayden Hoffmaster, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Cozad smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

As for Hershey, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2. They haven't had much luck with Cozad recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Hershey's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Houston Hill, who posted 12 points and six boards. Ryan Murphy was another key player, putting up five points.

Cozad has already played their next matchup, a 73-51 victory against Holdrege on the 13th. As for Hershey, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-52 loss against St. Patrick's on the 13th.
