Softball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Blissfield's Winning Streak

Blissfield dropped down to 13-7 on Saturday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Clinton Redskins, falling 7-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Royals couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Clinton, their victory bumped their record up to 19-7. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Clinton's part, Ashlynn Benschoter made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Benschoter has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Sierra Welch was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Kaylin Sposite also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triples of the season.

As of now, neither Blissfield nor Clinton have any future games scheduled.
