Volleyball Recap: Emma Russell Key Part of Team Effort in Tide Win

Sherman lost to Greenbrier West back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Tide had just enough and edged out the Cavaliers 2-1.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Sherman who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-19, 22-25, 15-8.

Sherman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Russell led the charge by getting 27 assists and six digs. Russell has been hot for a while, having posted 14 or more assists the last 23 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrina Smith, who had 14 digs.

Sherman's win bumped their record up to 12-4-1. As for Greenbrier West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14-1 record this season.

Sherman has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Buffalo on the 4th. As for Greenbrier West, they will head out to square off against Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
