Softball Recap: West End Starts Season with Victory Against Sand Rock

West End gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Sand Rock Wildcats by a score of 14-10. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Emma Franklin was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Franklin was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Bella Falkner was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kennedi Nix, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Looking ahead, West End will face off against Appalachian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sand Rock, they will take on Glencoe at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
