Baseball Recap: University Prep Takes a Loss

University Prep was the 12-10 winner over Lincoln-King Academy when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks on Monday.

Zachery Orton and Terry Burks stepped up to the plate in a big way. Orton went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Burks got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Burks is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Derrell McCall, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

University Prep's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Lincoln-King Academy, their record is now 3-1-1.

Coincidentally, University Prep and Lincoln-King Academy will both be playing Ecorse the next time they take the field. The Hawks will head out to face the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Panthers will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
