Basketball Recap: Daphne Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Daphne waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Spanish Fort Toros 60-58. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Toros are ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Daphne's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. As for Spanish Fort, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Daphne will be home for the holidays to greet Theodore at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Daphne's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests. As for Spanish Fort, they will be playing at home against St. Paul's at 2:00 p.m. on December 21st.
