Recap: Charlotte Catholic Cougars vs. Ardrey Kell Knights
On Tuesday, the Charlotte Catholic Cougars faced the Ardrey Kell Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Everything went Charlotte Catholic's way against Ardrey Kell as Charlotte Catholic made off with a 54-31 win. Charlotte Catholic's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Blanca Thomas had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points. Gracynn Gough was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Ardrey Kell saw an underclassman step up: Autumn Washington scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Washington is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Ardrey Kell struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Charlotte Catholic racked up 17.
Charlotte Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Ardrey Kell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charlotte Catholic will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Providence at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Providence will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Charlotte Catholic is ranked third). As for Ardrey Kell, they will be playing at home against Hopewell at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hopewell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 63 on Tuesday.
