The Kennebunk Rams will head out to take on the Thornton Academy Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kennebunk's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Marshwood as they made off with an 11-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rams needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Juliann Pike made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

In other batting news, Talia Kellum was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Mia McCarthy was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Kennebunk was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marshwood only posted a batting average of .111.
Meanwhile, Thornton Academy made easy work of Deering on Wednesday and carried off an 18-7 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
The team relied heavily on Emma Barnes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Bogardus, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double.
Kennebunk has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Thornton Academy, their record now sits at 4-6.
Thornton Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Kennebunk has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Thornton Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Kennebunk keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
Everything went Kennebunk's way against Thornton Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Kennebunk made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
