Basketball Recap: Anthony Simpson Key Part of a Team Effort in Hornets Win

There's no place like home for Bullock County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 55-41 victory over the Barbour County Jaguars on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Hornets: when they faced off against the Jaguars back in December of 2024, they had to take a 64-47 defeat.

Bullock County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Simpson out in front who went 7 of 15 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. Simpson's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Davis, who posted eight points and five boards.

Bullock County pushed their record up to 4-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Barbour County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Bullock County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-48 win against Pike County on the 24th. Barbour County has also already played their next game (against Long), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
