Softball Recap: Troy's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Troy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Fort Recovery Indians.

Riley King made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Amara Erbaugh was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Alexis Ater, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Troy pushed their record up to 20-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Fort Recovery, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.

Coming up, Troy is taking a road trip to face off against Covington at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fort Recovery, they will venture away from home to take on Ansonia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
