Baseball Recap: Thoreau Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Thoreau challenged Zuni on Saturday. Thoreau took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Zuni. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by exactly five runs.

Jordan Calladitto was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. Trevin Jim was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Thoreau and nudges their season record down to 1-7. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Zuni, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Thoreau will take on Tohatchi at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tohatchi will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Thoreau surely won't give up without a fight. As for Zuni, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wingate at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
