Basketball Recap: Friona Comes Up Short

Friona won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They took a blow against the Shallowater Mustangs, falling 79-35. While losing is never fun, the Chieftans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while the Mustangs are ranked 126th).

Friona dropped their record down to 13-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Shallowater, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Friona will host Muleshoe at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shallowater, they will head out on the road to square off against Slaton at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
