Soccer Game Preview: Hickory vs. First Flight

The Hickory Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the First Flight Nighthawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Hickory put up the most goals they have all season two weeks ago. Their defense stepped up to hand Green Run a 12-0 shutout. Kayleigh Belton was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Hickory used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Green Run. Three players hit the pitch for the first time this season: Alyssa Hall, Gabby Ivanac, and Madison Weed. The pair took full advantage of the opportunity: Ivanac scored a goal, while she scored a goal.

Meanwhile, First Flight entered their tilt with Hertford County on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 9-0 victory. First Flight's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five contests.

First Flight's win bumped their record up to 8-2-1. As for Hickory, the victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 2-3.
