1. Caravel (Bear)
2014 finish: 18-2
Head coach: Paul Niggebrugge

The Buccaneers captured the state championship last year and appear primed to do it again. Caravel has the state's top player in Jason Bilous, a 6-foot-2, right-handed pitcher who is headed to Coastal Carolina. He posted an 11-1 record last year with 84 strikeouts. Caravel also returns the No. 5 prospect in the state, according to Perfect Game, in outfielder Darnell Savage. The Buccaneers also have one of the state's top juniors in outfielder Brandon Fraley.

2. St. Mark's (Wilmington)
2014 finish: 19-3
Head coach: Matt Smith

St. Mark's will miss state MVP Dominic Disabatino, who graduated. However, all-state selections William Phillips and Jude Spagnolo return. Phillips was a first-team pitcher while Spagnolo was an honorable mention outfielder. St. Mark's has won 12 state championships, with the last coming in 2013.

3. Dover
2014 finish: 18-5
Head coach: David Gordon

The Senators reached the state semifinals before losing to eventual champion Caravel. Dover had just four seniors on last year's team, but will be led by a pair of juniors this year in Jordan Hutchins and Tevin Thomas. Hutchins made the second team as a shortstop while Thomas was an honorable mention infielder. Dakota Graham, an outfielder, is ranked the No. 5 player in the state by Perfect Game.

4. DuPont (Wilmington)
2014 finish: 15-6
Head coach: Darren Brodie

DuPont advanced to the semifinals of the state tournament and fell to St. Mark's. The Tigers have averaged 16 wins a season over the past seven years, including a 20-win season in 2012. DuPont returns honorable mention all-state catcher Regan Hidalgo.

5. Conrad Science (Wilmington)
2014 finish: 12-7
Head coach: Kelley Wilson

Conrad Science exited the state playoffs in the first round, but coach Kelley Wilson fielded a young and talented team last year. Brock Nowell, a sophomore catcher, and Brett Nowell, a junior third baseman, both earned second-team all-state honors last year.
