Softball Game Preview: Guilderland Flying Dutchmen vs. Colonie Central Wolfpack

The Guilderland Flying Dutchmen will head out on the road to square off against the Colonie Central Wolfpack at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Guilderland has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Ballston Spa hit Guilderland with a five-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Flying Dutchmen fell just short of the Scotties by a score of 7-6.

Alyssa Griffin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Santabarbara, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, Colonie Central entered their tilt with Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on Thursday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Spartans.

Adrianna Laraway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Katie Parisi, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jadeyn Barbero, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Guilderland has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Colonie Central, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.
