Basketball Game Preview: Quanah Indians vs. Vernon Lions

Quanah is 0-5 against Vernon since December of 2014 but things could change on Thursday. The Quanah Indians will be taking part in a tournament against the Vernon Lions at 3:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Tuesday, Quanah came up short against Seymour and fell 66-53. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 737th, while the Panthers are ranked 99th).

Meanwhile, Vernon's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Tuesday. They were dealt a 68-39 defeat at the hands of Memorial. The match marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Quanah and nudges their season record down to 8-5. As for Vernon, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Quanah came up short against Vernon in their previous matchup back in January of 2021, falling 64-60. Can Quanah avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
