Baseball Game Preview: Cigarroa Toros vs. Nixon Mustangs

For the second straight game, Cigarroa will face off against Nixon. The Toros will face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cigarroa is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Cigarroa came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Nixon by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Toros have suffered since April 9, 2024.

For Nixon's part, Sammy Palacios and Hunter Salinas did most of the damage at the plate: Palacios scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Salinas scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave Palacios a new career-high. Diego Martinez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cigarroa's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Nixon, with the victory, they broke their ten-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-15.
