Basketball Recap: Josiah Manrow's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gaither over Alonso

Gaither was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 51-41 to the Alonso Ravens. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cowboys came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the Ravens are ranked 387th).

Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josiah Manrow, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Asiah Perry, who earned ten points.

Gaither's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8. As for Alonso, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Gaither and Newsome will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Newsome will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Gaither surely won't give up without a fight.
