Softball Recap: Cardinal Comes Up Short

Cardinal fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Kenston on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bombers by a score of 4-2. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maggie Grant spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Emily Pleva made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Ivy Kaminski was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Cardinal now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Kenston, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cardinal will welcome Berkshire at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kenston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Firestone at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bombers are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
