Marist came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41 points), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Southwest DeKalb Panthers with a sharp 31-7 win. The result was nothing new for the War Eagles, who have now won three contests by 24 points or more so far this season.

Marist can attribute much of their success to Parks Kaiser, who rushed for 47 yards and two touchdowns.

Kaiser was just one part of a punishing run game: Marist was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest DeKalb only rushed for 73.

Marist's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Southwest DeKalb, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Marist and Southwest DeKalb should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The War Eagles (ranked 28th) will meet North Springs (ranked 387th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Southwest DeKalb will take on Lithonia at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (109 vs. 223). The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Panthers 8.8, the Bulldogs 7.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
