Basketball Game Preview: Kirby Cougars vs. Fayette Ware Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Kirby Cougars face off against Fayette Ware Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Kirby has given up an average of 56.3 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Kirby is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Munford just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 62-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Munford.

Meanwhile, Fayette Ware had already won 17 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 points) and they went ahead and made it 18 on Thursday. They walked away with a 51-42 victory over the Trojans. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Trojans are ranked 117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fayette Ware found their leader in freshman Kylon Terry, who went 6-for-14 on his way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Terry has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Williams, who had ten points and three steals.

Fayette Ware's win bumped their record up to 26-5. As for Kirby, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-10.
