Soccer Game Preview: Spartanburg vs. James F. Byrnes

The Spartanburg Vikings will challenge the James F. Byrnes Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Spartanburg is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Dorman on Thursday. They came up short against the Cavaliers, falling 5-0.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, James F. Byrnes' good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost 3-0 to Dorman. James F. Byrnes fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Cavaliers since on Monday.

Spartanburg dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for James F. Byrnes, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2-1.

Spartanburg suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to James F. Byrnes when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Spartanburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
