The Eastern Eagles will take on the West Jefferson Roughriders at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Eastern sitting on three straight wins and West Jefferson on six.
Eastern is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Portsmouth West 4-3.

Leah Rader made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over eight innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Braelyn Bevins was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Jefferson). They never let Grandview Heights get on the board and left with a 24-0 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Roughriders, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Eastern, West Jefferson also got a great game from a two-way player: Jenna Mannon. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Mannon was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Hailey McBrayer was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Mia Burgett, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
West Jefferson lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Eastern's win bumped their record up to 21-7. As for West Jefferson, their victory bumped their record up to 22-5.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eastern hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like West Jefferson struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
