Preview: Vandegrift Vipers vs. Vista Ridge Rangers
Vandegrift is 8-2 against Vista Ridge since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Vandegrift Vipers will head out on the road to face off against the Vista Ridge Rangers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of four wins, Vandegrift's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 44-37 to Cedar Ridge.
Meanwhile, Vista Ridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-41 walloping at the hands of Manor. While losing is never fun, Vista Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 588th, while Manor is ranked 123rd).
Despite the loss, Vista Ridge had strong showings from Bennett Eivens, who scored ten points, and Gavin Howard, who scored seven points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Eivens has scored all season.
Vandegrift's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6. As for Vista Ridge, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.
Vandegrift beat Vista Ridge 49-40 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Vandegrift repeat their success, or does Vista Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
