Basketball Recap: Elizabethton Skates Past Sullivan East with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Elizabethton's strategy against Sullivan East on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones blew the Sullivan East Patriots out of the water with an 82-53 final score. The Fighting Cyclones pushed the score to 66-41 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had little chance of recovering from.

Despite the loss, Sullivan East saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eli Hubbard almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Ridlehuber, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Elizabethton pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.3 points per game. As for Sullivan East, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Elizabethton will face off against David Crockett at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sullivan East, they will challenge Daniel Boone at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
