Preview: Calvert Cavaliers vs. Dunbar Poets
Calvert has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Dunbar Poets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Calvert: 9.5, Dunbar: 7.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Calvert had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-14 win over the Foresters.
Calvert can attribute much of their success to Domaine Wallace Jr., who rushed for 135 yards.
Meanwhile, Dunbar put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Patuxent by a score of 36-29. Dunbar's win was all the more impressive since Patuxent was averaging only 13 points allowed on the season.
Calvert has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 12-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.2 points per game. As for Dunbar, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.
Calvert was dealt a bruising 46-7 defeat at the hands of Dunbar when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Calvert avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
