Volleyball Recap: Millbury Takes a Loss

Millbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Southbridge Pioneers. The Woolies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Millbury actually scored more points across those five sets (105-104), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-23, 21-25, 26-24, 15-8.

Kaden Ellis paced Millbury's offense, picking up 12 kills. Ellis got some help from Giuliana Gerolomo and her 15 assists. Ellis was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Millbury's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Southbridge, their victory ended a nine-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7.

Millbury has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Blackstone Valley RVT on the 29th. As for Southbridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Grafton on the 29th.
