Volleyball Preview: Westport Wildcats vs. Holbrook Bulldogs

On Wednesday Westport will have to hit the road after three straight games at home. They will venture away from home to challenge the Holbrook Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Westport will be strutting in after a win while Holbrook will be coming in after a loss.

Last Monday, Westport beat Tri-County RVT 3-1.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Holbrook's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of South Shore Vo-Tech by a score of 3-2. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Vikings recently, as their game on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Holbrook came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. After all that action, the final score was 17-25, 25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 16-14.

Despite their defeat, Holbrook saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Namaya Paul, who had six kills, six aces, and four blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Paul has been hot recently, having posted three or more aces the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Moore, who had 15 kills and a block.

Even though they lost, Holbrook was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in six consecutive games.

Westport's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. As for Holbrook, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
