Basketball Recap: Maple Heights Takes a Loss

Maple Heights lost against Garfield Heights back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Maple Heights Mustangs were outmatched by the Garfield Heights Bulldogs and fell 93-55. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked seventh).

Despite the loss, Maple Heights still got an impressive performance from Kaelon Hurt, who posted 26 points. Hurt's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalin Allen, who put up seven points.

Maple Heights has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Garfield Heights, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.

Coming up, Maple Heights will take on Bedford in a tournament on February 22nd. As for Garfield Heights, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lakeside at 3:00 p.m. on February 22nd.
