Volleyball Recap: Sunlake Seahawks vs. Steinbrenner Warriors
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sunlake had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Steinbrenner Warriors. The Seahawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.
While Sunlake won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-13, 25-20.
Amelia Snider paced Sunlake's offense, picking up 14 kills. Snider got some help from
Sofia Sierra and her 29 assists.
Sunlake is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Steinbrenner, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-11.
After both having extra time off, Sunlake and St. Thomas Aquinas will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Thomas Aquinas comes in on ten and Sunlake on six. Steinbrenner does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
