Football Recap: Cardinal Spellman Takes a Loss

Cardinal Spellman extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were beaten by the Christ the King Royals 44-0. While losing is never fun, the Pilots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 536th, while the Royals are ranked 263rd).

As for Christ the King, they now have a winning record of 2-1. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Isaiah Smith had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 182 yards and three TDs on only ten carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. Christ the King also got help from Melvin Beltran, who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.

Looking ahead, Cardinal Spellman will welcome St. Dominic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Christ the King, they are taking a road trip to take on Holy Cross at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
