Basketball Recap: Center Grove Comes Up Short

Center Grove was the 52-36 winner over Bloomington North when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Trojans took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Center Grove lost, don't look at Zavier Laney. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-11 en route to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Grayson Alvey was another key player, shooting 45% from the field on his way to 12 points.

Center Grove's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Bloomington North, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Center Grove will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Whiteland at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th. As for Bloomington North, they will challenge Mooresville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
