Softball Recap: Amherst Central Tigers vs. Starpoint Spartans

Amherst Central had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it eight. They lost 15-3 to the Starpoint Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 last Monday.

Soph Tata made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That hit marked the first that she has got this season.

As for Starpoint, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Starpoint's side, Matalyn Adamo and Jordan Duncan did most of the damage at the plate: Adamo got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Duncan went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Duncan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Cook, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Amherst Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Starpoint, they will head out on the road to face off against Hamburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
