Football Recap: Raymond Central Starts Season with Win Against Fillmore Central

Raymond Central gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Fillmore Central Panthers 42-7. With the Mustangs ahead 34-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Wyatt Jelinek had a dynamite game, rushing for 191 yards and three scores on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine passes. His longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Tavion Johnson also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Raymond Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 308 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
