Baseball Recap: Paris' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but Paris unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Berea Pirates by a score of 9-8. The Greyhounds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Will Wilson put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wilson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, Cameron Mays made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Paris' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Hickerson, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Paris' defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Berea, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Coming up, Paris and Holmes will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Greyhounds are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Berea, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Buckhorn at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
