Basketball Recap: Heritage Christian Comes Up Short

Heritage Christian played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Lake Country Lutheran Lightning and fell 78-46. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Lightning are ranked 73rd).

Despite the loss, Heritage Christian had strong showings from Eddie Riebe, who posted 12 points, and Marcus Seroyer, who had eight points. Micah Sells was another key player, putting up two points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Heritage Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Lake Country Lutheran's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Burow, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Burow has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Daniel Cleary, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Heritage Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Lake Country Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Heritage Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-44 win against Holy Redeemer on the 21st. As for Lake Country Lutheran, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 84-64 victory against Edgewood on the 21st.
