Softball Game Preview: Rhea County Golden Eagles vs. Rockvale

The Rhea County Golden Eagles will challenge Rockvale at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither Rhea County nor Rockvale posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Rhea County's tournament run continued when they took on DeKalb County on Friday. Rhea County came up short against DeKalb County, falling 11-1.

Meanwhile, Rockvale owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past South Pittsburg 1-0.

The result came thanks to Atiera Stickler's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Rockvale saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabi Lyons, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Rhea County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Rockvale, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
