Football Recap: Cotopaxi Takes a Loss

Cotopaxi extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They took a blow against the La Veta Redhawks, falling 38-7. Having soared to a lofty 36 points in the game before, the Pirates couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for La Veta, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Weston Huff was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 70 yards and one TD on only six carries, and also caught a pair of scores. He didn't just play on offense: he also made 12 total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cotopaxi will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Arickaree at 1:00 p.m. on October 11. As for La Veta, they will welcome Branson/Kim at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
