Volleyball Recap: Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Notre Dame lost against CSTHEA back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots.

Notre Dame started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-20, 25-11, 25-11.

Madden Cothron paced Notre Dame's offense, picking up 14 kills. Cothron got some help from Aniyah Brown and her 12 assists. Callie McCormick controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Among those leading the charge was Avery Brennan, who had 12 digs and three aces.

Notre Dame has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for CSTHEA, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4.

Notre Dame has already played their next contest (against St. Andrews-Sewanee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for CSTHEA, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on East Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th.
