Basketball Game Preview: Edmund Burke Academy Spartans vs. Briarwood Academy Buccaneers

The Edmund Burke Academy Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Edmund Burke Academy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight defeats, while Briarwood Academy will come in with three straight wins.

Last Friday, Edmund Burke Academy was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to Westminster Christian Academy.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Owen Redd, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Wyatt Carey was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Edmund Burke Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Briarwood Academy beat Monsignor Donovan Catholic 66-54 on Friday.

Edmund Burke Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Briarwood Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.

Edmund Burke Academy ended up a good deal behind Briarwood Academy when the teams last played back in January, losing 48-34. Can Edmund Burke Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
