Basketball Recap: Rohit Das' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Niwot over Monarch

Niwot was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They took a 70-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monarch Coyotes. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Coyotes are ranked 52nd).

Niwot's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rohit Das, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 20 points. That's the most points Das has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was LT Lehman, who scored 12 points and five steals.

Dylan Ehrnstrom had an outrageously good game for Monarch as he went 9-for-14 en route to 25 points and five rebounds. Logan Laverty was another key player, going 6-for-11 to rack up 13 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Niwot's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Monarch, they pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Niwot will head out on the road to face off against Frederick at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monarch, they will welcome Fairview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fairview has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three matches.
