Basketball Game Preview: Pierz Pioneers vs. Crosby-Ironton Rangers

The Pierz Pioneers will venture away from home to square off against the Crosby-Ironton Rangers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Pierz has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight losses, while Crosby-Ironton will come in with 21 straight victories.

Last Thursday, Pierz came up short against Foley and fell 79-67. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while the Falcons are ranked 139th).

Meanwhile, everything went Crosby-Ironton's way against Minnehaha Academy on Saturday as Crosby-Ironton made off with an 85-65 win. The Rangers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Crosby-Ironton pushed their record up to 21-0 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40.1 points. As for Pierz, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Pierz came up short against Crosby-Ironton when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 76-67. Can Pierz avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
