Softball Recap: Oak Hill Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Oak Hill, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Lewiston Blue Devils 5-4 on Monday. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 7-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Izzy Whitaker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Oak Hill's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Saryn Blais, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Carlee Austin was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

The victory got Oak Hill back to even at 2-2. As for Lewiston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Hill will square off against Gardiner at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lewiston, they will face off against Messalonskee at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Eagles will have lost five straight heading into Wednesday's match.
