Baseball Game Preview: Bartram Trail Bears vs. St. Augustine Yellow Jackets

The Bartram Trail Bears will square off against the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Bartram Trail beats St. Augustine with seven runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Bartram Trail came out on top against Chiles by a score of 7-2 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Croix DiBacco tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and only a hit over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Max Wilkerson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Colby Dean was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, while St. Augustine put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Fleming Island. St. Augustine walked away with a 5-0 win over Fleming Island.

Cooper Kiker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, St. Augustine let Nico Knight and Maddux Dowler loose on the outfield. Knight went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Dowler scored a run while going 1-for-4. That's the most RBI Knight has posted since back in April of 2024.

St. Augustine's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Bartram Trail, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
